  • Balusters & Handrails ∼ Balustrades are highly decorative railings made of cast stone. By adding interest and definition to architectural spaces, these cast stone products make an excellent choice for stair rails, balcony enclosures and porch areas.
  • Quoins ∼ These are literally the cornerstone of any edifice they grace. Pieces of cast stone can provide accent and style at the corner of any house or building. Quoins are versatile both in profile and the manner in which they are placed. This offers the opportunity for a distinctive look.
  • Caps & Coping ∼ As with many cast stone products, we offer the advantage of beauty and function. In fact, cast stone coping and column caps are the best type of moisture protection fro a masonry wall. Not only do they look good, but they also bond well with masonry and are basically maintenance-free.
  • Medallions ∼ These emblems can be of any size or shape. They can be repeated in a consistent manner around doors and windows, at corners and at the eaves of a structure. The design of a medallion is often unique and can define the style or use of the structure. Our favorite designs include family crests, animals, a cross on a church, rosettes, Texas stars and anything related to the area.
  • Surrounds ∼ These are the focal points of most buildings, whether residential or commercial. Since there are many different styles of doors and windows, cast stone helps to define the unique character of each. Cast stone surrounds for windows and doors add architectural beauty and draw the eye to the aesthetic details of the building.
  • Keystones & Address Blocks ∼ By placing a keystone at the top center position of a window or door surround, you create interest and draw the viewer’s eye to the summit of the entry or window. A keystone is appropriate to use with a full cast stone surround or separately as an accent piece. Keystones are classical elements that add a distinguishing feature to your building without adding substantial cost.
  • Watertables & Banding ∼ These cast stone features are used as transition elements between different materials, such as between brick, stone and stucco. Even simple banding creates interest for a structure, and more intricate designs can be used for decorative impact. A cast stone horizontal banding is generally about three to four feet of the ground. Also, banding can be used at or below the eaves of a building. Banding is an excellent transitions between a masonry facade and root eaves.
  • Fireplaces ∼ There is no better way to define the character of a room than with a cast stone fireplace. Color and texture simulate the look of limestone to make a powerful visual statement.
  • Columns ∼ For centuries, columns have been used to enhance the appearance of homes and buildings. For many of the world’s most famous structures, columns are the primary focal point of the architectural design. Columns make a quality statement about the building and have become associated with the characteristics of strength and stability.
  • Signs, Vents & Mailboxes ∼ A sign from cast stone can be formed into any shape to present a unique, interesting and informative statement. Unlike other materials, cast stone signs are a permanent material and are considered the premier product for upscale buildings, developments and other institutions. Cast stone vents are designed for ornamental purposes only. Vents designs often add old-world charm to a new structure. A mail-box is very visible feature of many homes, and cast stone can turn a utilitarian feature into an entry feature.
  • Custom Entryways ∼ One advantage of a custom piece is that the style and profiles can be extended over a larger portion of the facade. If you want us to create and price a custom project, just supply us with basic plans. Once we have exact dimensions on all sections of the building and the exact exterior measurements of the entryway, our team of professionals can develop complete architectural drawings. Great Lakes Cast Stone not only will detail the exact pieces and dimensions for installation, we also will work with your mason to clarify what is required to successfully complete the custom entryway. This attention to detail characterizes our commitment to your satisfaction from start to finish.
